I'm Dr. Erin.
I've served in schools first as a high school counselor, a school psychologist, and then an instructional coach before becoming a university researcher. I led Oregon's statewide MTSS professional learning from 2010-2015 and then in 2016 I wrote the 5 million dollar grant awarded to Oregon to establish MTSS coaching hubs across the state.
You can find me hanging out on a small farm in Oregon, with my husband, our rescue dogs plus 2 mini donkeys, sheep, and chickens when I’m not working for the university.
I started the MTSS Implementation Network because MTSS leaders tell me that they're responsible for building their school's MTSS plan and they don't know where to start and the school doesn't have buckets of money to bring in a consultant. I've been helping schools implement tiered systems since 2006 and have the data to show how it's improved the lives of students (Chaparro et al., 2012 and 2021).
Fast facts:
- Masters in Special Education; Ph.D. in School Psychology
- First Gen Mexican-American
- Textbook Author of "Assessment in Special and Inclusive Education" (Pro-Ed, 2023).
- Current research faculty at University of Oregon.
- Received U.S. Department of Education grant to study schoolwide data teaming for tiered behavior systems (PBIS).
