February MTSS Implementation Network Live Session

I've revised the topic of this session to focus on social emotional behavioral universal screeners for districts and for schools. A member of the community brought up this question. And this topic was also a hot topic at a principal training I did in November which spurned a discussion I had with a colleague of mine who is an expert on the topic and has developed a free SEB screener that I'll share during this session. At the beginning we'll go around the "room" for everyone to share what they have in place. March MTSS Implementation Network Live Session

Tier 3 work can feel heavy, especially when staffing and budgets are tight. In this live 1-hour session, we’ll talk about how Student Support Teams (SST) can work better when they’re connected to Tier 1 and Tier 2, not operating like a separate rescue system. We’ll introduce the Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF) as a lens to reduce duplication plus clarify roles and team purpose. You'll get a chance to share what you're doing and have a discussion about what's working and where things are still evolving. I'm Erin Chaparro

I’ve been research faculty for 13 years+ at the university level (Go Ducks!), working with districts, schools, and state leaders to help install evidence-based practices. For five years I led MTSS professional development efforts for a statewide initiative across 22 school districts (Chaparro et al., 2012, 2019, and 2021) and for another five years after I was on the steering committee and wrote the 5 million dollar grant that funded the MTSS Coaching statewide initiative. I’ve also worked in schools as a school psychologist, SPED interventionist, instructional coach, and counselor.

Now I'm using what I've learned to help lift up MTSS implementers who are working hard with limited resources.
